Ellen Page Lesbian Sketch: What Does it Mean?

Posted by Michael Musto at 12:00 PM, March 3, 2008

I just figured out why, when Ellen Page's publicist Kelly Bush called me last week, the number on the Caller ID looked like NBC's. It's because it WAS NBC's. Bush was obviously calling from the set of Saturday Night Live, where Page was rehearsing for her hosting gig two nights ago. And though Bush had called to say it was SHE who accompanied Page to the Oscars and that's not an uncommon practice—i.e., don't assume that means anything about her client—Page did a sketch on SNL that had viewers instantly emailing each other with, "Did she just come out?" Well, I saw it and. . . of course she didn't. It’s comedy! The sketch—in which Page's character tries to explain to boyfriend Andy Samberg that having become all orgiastic at a lesbo concert doesn't mean she's a lesbo herself (“Gay? No way!”)—shows she's in on the talk and can have fun playing around with it. Just because she's playing a closet case doesn't necessarily mean she IS one. By the way, according to at least one website, my blog "seemed to be the impetus" for the sketch. But don't assume that makes ME gay.

Yep, she's gay.

More to the point is the fact that the sketch wasn't all that funny. She and Samberg both looked straight out at the prompters through the whole sketch, destroying any spontaneity. Even Hillary was better.

They should've used Tegan and Sara instead of Melissa Etheridge, considering Ellen's age. Melissa is great and all but she's so 1990s.

You may have prompted this SNL thing, Musto, but closer to home, it was this rag that brazenly asked the same question a month before hand. Ellen had to be well aware speculation was rampant long before you took on the Bush lady.

plus you linked to other blogs that had the info first. so you shouldn't take all teh credit. and wehter or not she was just joking, her appearance didn't help the rumors. she's so gay! she doesn't even need to come out. it's obvious and besides the point. and, she sucks at sketch comedy.

I saw the sketch and it wasn't that good. Her character seemed like a closet case at first but then it went somewhere else and the hug at the end was weird. I don't care if she is straight or gay but I'm thinking she is identifying as straight for now however she is young and that could change.

Ellen Page is so damn cute. The question is this: Does she wear Birkenstocks and listen to radio shows like "Womensong?" If she does, she's not straight. Not like me. I'm straight.

My hunger for Ellen Page's pussy is growing by the day. Ellen, I'm really good at eating pussy. ok? Please come out so that I can have your snatch for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Okay. first she is NOT gay! okay seiously guys its called acting for a reason. Second do you beleive EVERYTHING you hear???? Look at the political sketches do you seriously believe those? Third people are like well she has a lot of tomboy rolls. um again its acting and her most known flick she gets pregnant...i really dont see how thats boyish?????????? forth wow america is really screwed up! we love people like brittney spears and lindsey lohan who fill up our tabloids and good girls like miley cyrus who obviously have no acting skills be better than us and ultimatly more important news then the president but when an amazing actress and a normall girl who has her feet on the ground is interduced to the u.s. we say stupid stuff like this?!?!?!?!?! Thank god she is from Canada otherwise she would be just like you stupid and stuck up.
