Don't tell me this blog doesn't work magic! Two months ago, I ran a post about a movie I'd seen on DVD—Gary Legault'sEast of the Tarpits, starring drag icon Holly Woodlawn as a chanteuse who worships Streisand—and was outraged that in all its fruity glory, the film had been rejected by every single film festival in the world. I mean it's an "intoxicatingly funny Douglas Sirk-ian campathon" and there were no takers, not even at Cannes, which will show anything, even that Norah Jones flick! Well, someone from the illustrious New York Underground Film Festival read that item and instantly booked the kitchen-sink comedy for tonight at 1030pm at Anthology Film Archives (32 Second Avenue). They're promoting it so heavily they've even gotten someone very special to introduce it onstage—the same person who said it's an "intoxicatingly etc etc." You're reading him! See you there!
Holly's a thief, but I still admire her talent. I'll be there--and not just to get my hundred back.

Holly Woodlawn is still alive? Bless her heart! I had heard she had died of a Hostess Twinkie overdose and was buried next to Candy Darling and Sal Mineo-- IN the LaBrea Tar Pits. Give Holly my love. I always had a soft spot for her.

Sounds entertaining and fun for the whole family. We'll be there. Right Verdon? Yes, Gaynor. Desmond's got an art opening gig. x

Love Holly but that bore Norah Jones is the biggest no-talent snooze to hit the music biz since Diana Krall.

Dahling, I love you snafu-er. I thought I was the only one who thought Diana Krall was no more talented than any old Holiday Inn Lounge singer in South Bend, Indiana. I guess it's all who you're married to. Pamela Harriman tried to explain that to me once.

No, not the Capt. of the Raging Queen, I have watched g Gary Legault's crusade to write direct and produce from the time he was a swabbie stuck in the port of N.Y.
In his Chelsea days, he untireingly held three jobs and still managed to take care of me, any port in a storm, plus act and write. If anyone deserves kudos for a well sailed voyage Mr. Legault does. I know his journey is not over , I hear rumbeling on the horizon that bodes his next storm about a coroner said to be alive and well in the L.A. area. Gary I hope this morphs into a stage 4 hurricane! smoooth sailing...red
