The Silence of the Foster

Posted by Michael Musto at 4:30 PM, June 18, 2008

Jodie Foster and Cynthia Mort, alleged girlfriends

According to imdb yesterday, "Hollywood actress Jodie Foster has hit out at the paparazzi after they attempted to photograph her sharing a car with a mystery woman. The Silence of the Lambs star--who split with longtime partner Cydney Bernard last month after 15 years together--threw her blue and white handbag in the face of a photographer as she tried to get into the car.

In video footage posted on website TMZ, Foster is driven off by a woman, reported to be her alleged new girlfriend, Cynthia Mort."

First of all, the use of the word alleged is very disturbing and only seems to be dredged up when discussing gay relationships (which the press still strangely liken to criminal acts). But more upsettingly, Jodie is clearly carrying out her same old pattern of secrecy and shame, not learning anything from her past romantic breakup. Will her new love enjoy the role of being Jodie's backdoor girlfriend, unable to proudly show her face in public as she skanks around dark alleyways desperate to not be noticed? I doubt it--but even if so, is that the kind of girlfriend YOU'D want? Allegedly not!

Careful, Jodie, you start wielding a handbag to hit people with and you'll be mistaken for Ruth Buzzi...especially if you continue to wear that constipated grimace on your face.

You can be sure she's not going to send a memo about her supposed new relationship.
And I'm sure I've seen "alleged" in reference to hetero hook ups too. Aren't you over analyzing here.

Seriously, do you really think Foster still wants a low profile? While already deep in an illicit affair, she arguably comes out by thanking her "beautiful Cydney" (thanks for what? being such a dope?). Then she dumps said beautiful Cydney, while still living with her!!!! And dumps her for a woman who likes to be in the news by all accounts, a woman who apparently recently dumped her OWN longtime lover.... 2 dumpees, 2 famous dumpers, lots of celebuspawn as Perez would call them and non-mainstream details like -- man, you're still living together but you've dumped her? Say, isn't that a bit awkward? These aren't the actions of someone wanting a low profile. First, you dump the lover. Then you find a new home. Or reverse the order, it doesn't matter. Then, you quietly resume a life with lunches and dinners with a variety of people, including the new lover. They've had this affair going on for a while so I doubt that passion finally swept her away. For whatever reason, Foster is ready to come out.

A blue and white handbag??? What kind of dyke is this? Not a very fashionable one, I'm afraid.

the new gf looks a little more womanly than cydney, no?

Wasn't she the one being harrassed or so I saw in that video. Why is she the accused now (no pun intended).
But seriously, I think she's just low key which not necessarily equals to shame.

Posted by: anaris at June 18, 2008 9:45 PM

She's being harrassed because she's trying so hard not to be photographed with the girlfriend. But Jodie's a private person all around (except for constantly talking about her kids on talk shows).

Oh, think of the children!! Won't you please, please think of the children?!?!?! (sniff, sniff, sob sob, boo-hoo) Leave her alone, she's just living part of her life in public when it suits her, sob sob.

I hate to sound superficial or shallow, but at least this new muff mate, I mean galpal, is attractive. Cydney was a BOW WOW WOW!

I can't say wanting privacy is an unreasonable thing to want and relish. She's not a media whore. She's there to promote her movies, not her "private" life.

jodie was at the peak of her sexiness when she played an underage hooker (in taxi driver) who had sex with a dozen johns a night. been all downhill ever since.

jodie foster best role was in movie' alice doesn't live here anymore'...catch the line jodie utters at the police station...'so long, suckers'...she funny and great

taxi driver is a great movie but foster is only in it for about 3 mins at the very end of the film.

Now Jodie can barely prop up an Abigail Breslin movie. Stick a fork in her.

And twist it.

Dayum! What a bunch of mean-spirited a**holes! Why not critique Musto's article and quit ripping the two-time Oscar winner to shreds?

Do you really think Jodie cares what blog commenters think?

You ask: Will her new love enjoy the role of being Jodie's backdoor girlfriend, unable to proudly show her face in public as she skanks around dark alleyways desperate to not be noticed?

Answer: It seems she thrives on it - she did it with Melonie Mayron for all those years, so the girl must find the closet more of a hot box of love.

Poor Jodie! :( I guess she thinks Hollywood would frown on her coming out, as it might damage her future box office grossing potential. Memo to Hollywood: In or Out, we're not coming to see her new crap anyway. Unless she reprises her hooker role from Taxi Driver. Oh, wouldn't that be fun? I think she should mix it up & play Easy more dykey this time. Can you manage that, Jodie? (If she says yes that will be our next clue!!!)

Dr Starling move over - I found Jodie Foster's next movie Oscar-winning role! Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor who wrote ""My Stroke of Insight"" and delivered a talk about it on TED.com that will knock your socks off! The video's been seen 5 million times and I understand why.

Taylor was a Harvard trained brain scientist who suffered a massive stroke. I don't think we'll ever hear a story like this - Taylor understands how the brain functions and she was able to observe her mind deteriorating. She writes about the euphoric nirvana and a sense of complete peace and well-being she discovered in her stroke! She talks about this in her incredible (don't miss it) talk on TED.com. The book is great too - highly recommended. You'll learn how to 'step to the right of their left brain' to uncover a deep internal peace. Sign me up!
