Janeane Garofalo's Ex Salutes Her!

In my column this week, multimedia star Craig Bierko addresses his kinship with firebrand comic/actress Janeane Garofalo and just what that entails.

Bierko told me he feels Janeane's "a great American, whatever the fuck that is." Explained the actor, "When she went against O'Reilly, she was like, 'I'm cutting the chord to show biz and I probably won't work for a long time'. Scary shit happened. South Park did that puppet movie where they blew her head off and then she started getting real death threats. It was a scary time. And she hung in there. She didn't spin things. She was brave. I tell her she's a great American and she calls me a fruit, and it's over. She punches me and three hours later, I wake up!"

Fortunately, he's woken up on Broadway. Craig's in Guys and Dolls!

They have to be the weirdest couple in the annals of show biz weirdness.

I believe it's "cutting the cord," sans "h". And although I admire her moxy, I think Mystery Men and The Truth About Cats and Dogs has a lot more to do with her not working for a long time than her speaking out against Bill O'Reilly. Although I do applaud it.

janeane turned into quite an articulate spokesperson for the liberal cause, wiping the floor with Republicans all over the TV, then she was never heard from again. Is that how it happens?

I always liked her, very witty and kinda sullen in that who gives a f*** way. I felt she was a kindred spirit. Would love to see more of her.

I've always admired how versatile Garofalo is: fearless comedy, an actress who's done off-the-wall and serious acting roles and now, her deadpan, quirky work on "24." Obviously smart, I'd buy her book if she wrote one.

Marko says:

It's not like she hasn't been working. She's in 24 now and just did the voice of Colette in Ratatouille. Before that she was on Air America with Sam Seder. And some other things in betweeen.

But you have to hand it to her, when she spoke out against the Right it was just after 9/11 and nobody was speaking out against Bush/Cheney & Co. Now everyone knows that they were all crooks and dopes. She was right all along.

I saw Janeane tonight on Countdown with Keith, in Michael's usual segment at the end of the show. They had a great time slicing up Rush the Flush. Smart girls are so much fun.

greyhound girl says:

She was great on Countdown last night! Funny, and absolutely, completely fearless. She put Rush Limbaugh through the ringer. So refreshing to see an actor act like a real human being!

Ron Mwangaguhunga says:

Garofalo was also on West Wing in the last season. But I heard she had a pilot that ABC considered running. Then her outspokenness, I think, got that killed. Unfortunately, I don't think she will be more than an ensemble player because of her political stands. A "Jeanne Garofalo Show" probably isn't going to happen, and that truly sucks.

mikey says:

Janeane,

I read your comments on the Olbermann show. You are a liberal elitist who thinks that anyone that doesn't have the same point of view as you is somehow of inferior thinking capacity.

Janeane you are delusional. There are plenty of people who are smarter than you that have a different opinion. Yes it is true there are smart people who have conservative points of view.

In terms of the general IQ of the tea party participants, is their IQ any lower on average than the average IQ of the attendees at the presidential inauguration or of the attendees of the Obama acceptance speech?

I loved you in SNL and think that you are very talented but please get a grip on reality and your perceived superiority.

DoucheBag Hater says:

Anyone that supports Garofalo or Musto is fucking ignorant. I realize that stooping to this level only aligns me but I do not care. I met JG in Aspen years ago for the HBO Comedy Fest. She was a talentless waste then and now, exceedingly unatractive inside and out. A string of mis-guided decisions and lost opportunities later, and we get comments like "Redneck" and "Tea Baggers" "Black President haters". She should get her ass kicked for opening her mouth like that. For her to assume she knows what is in everyone's heart is amazingly self-centered. Stunningly self-righteous and void of any intelligence!!!!! Supporting the decisions of this administration is like tatooing "I am an absloute DUMBASS" on your forehead.
