Why Sarah Palin Stepped Down

Our favorite punching bag--four-eyed, two-chromosomed Sarah Palin--weirdly resigned as Governor of Alaska the other day, and her reasons seemed so sketchy that left-wingers started immediately wondering just what hideous scandal is about to hit the freezing fan. Did she club a baby seal? Is she finally ready to answer the Katie Couric question "What do you read?" and the answer is so damaging that she can't possibly continue in public office? Does she have a secret girlfriend in Argentina? Has Bristol been implanted with eight embryos?

Whatever the case, read this blog speculating on the supposed "iceberg scandal" to come and give it some thought. Then turn on QVC and see if she's there yet.

Now they're saying she has to step down to deal with the finances involved in the ethical investigation into her. It's called karma.

At least this guarantees no big-time political return for Palin. Who would vote for someone who leaves in the middle of office because she simply doesn't feel like continuing?

There's always that 32% who will vote for a Bush or a Palin if for no other reason than to prolong the life of their delusions. And with enough fear-mongering and manipulation, and with America's short-term memory, and if Obama's economic recovery is not substantial enough...in other words, don't take anything for granted - Palin is planning a presidential run!

Michaelc says:

It is amazing how Sarah keeps doing exactly what is needed to drive the Republicans into a tailspin. If she were a Liberal infiltrator she could not have been more successful in dividing the party and keeping any other Republican candidates from getting any attention. The more extreme she gets, the more she inflames her base and the more she alienates the moderates and independents (without whom Republicans cannot win elections).

The strategy of the barrage of lawsuits is brilliant. It will throw gasoline on her base even more, as well as giving her the media exposure to give lots of increasingly incoherent speeches railing against the media. I am sure their coverage will be kind.

I almost feel like I should send her a donation so she can keep up the good work, but Tina Fey will be able to do that with all the extra work she will be getting.

Maybe it is time for DemsForPalin.com or Limbaugh/Palin2012!

She's always playing victim--to the media, to Letterman, to anyone who questions her ethics or her fucked up family values, even as they publicly unravel. I wish nothing more than an end to her public spotlight and I pray this is it.

Does Letterman come back from reruns tonight? Hope so!

She is now trying to actually blame the Letterman jokes, saying they were a consideration in her stepping down! A great Governor, huh? A late-night comic makes a joke, so you leave office!!!

CMG says:

As a woman this just makes me cringe. Mark Sanford has his telenovela emails spoken allowed on shows but he does not resign (not saying he should stay in office or anything) or threaten to sue anybody who leaked those emails much less posted them on any blogs or mentioned on any TV shows. Meanwhile the recognizable women politician resigns over something we are unsure about and blames the media. Hillary Clinton would have been long out of the game using those standards.

I hope she and Elisabeth Hasselbeck steal an old Cadillac convertible and launch it off a cliff.

La Grand Puta says:

Honey she resigned so she could bring in the big bucks. She's got all she needed out of being governor. She could care less how she leaves the state, she is on her way up the ladder.
She is cashing in not only to pay legal fees but to cha-ching her way to the top. I just hope she hasn't sold out to the Karl Rove camp. Fox News has made a fortune off her. She's going to be America's new voice of reason. Ay yi yi.

To anynomous. She is planning on trying to go independant. She has all but come out and shouted it from the rooftops. They might take her JUST to get them in the spotlight even if the spotlight is the HOTSEAT with her.But they won't keep her too long. She is a poorly educated, what is it 5 colleges in five years, beauty was more important than brains, kind of girl. OBVIOUSLY!!!! The GOP does'nt want her, McCain would have won that election w/ a different running mate. Dumbest career move he ever made! We both know the left doesnt want her except maybe her head on a pike. So I dont really think she is any danger to anyone but her family. Poor kids. She has probably received some pressure from people close to her, or not so close in a friendly manner but a critical one. Telling her she needs to be at home taking care of her special needs baby. She should be. He deserves the best care he can get from his own Mother and family. Not from nurses and Nannies,or even souly being cared for his I am certain loving other family members. I have alot to say about her and anyone who uses power to kill endangered, or delist (W.) them so they can be hunted. No person who sanctions aerial hunting of an endangered animal, then offers an illegal bounty of $150 for a left foreleg is an evil person in my book. I wonder if her biplane was fueled and standing by ready to take her away to kill more wolves.Bitch. She will surely have some really nasty Karma coming her way.
