What's Your Favorite Antidepressant or Anti-Anxiety Med?

No one has to go through life with angst anymore, unless you're disturbed by co-pays, side effects, and an over-reliance on artifical highs.

And I am, honey!

A few years ago, I tried Zoloft and almost jumped out a window. It gave me aching fingers, headaches, dizzy spells, spasms, and no relief whatsoever!

Klonopin was more effective, but it basically just wipes you out for a huge chunk of time, so the only reason you can't be depressed is because you've totally passed out!

I hit gold for a while with Neurontin, which was lovely and uplifting, but now I'm free of meds, preferring to greet life head on and just deal.

But I know I'm in the vast minority, everyone else finding salvation in a tiny bottle with bad-tasting chemical friends. So what works best for curing YOUR stress levels?

Paxil?

Prozac?

Wellbutrin?

Lexapro?

Xanax?

Valium?

God, just listing all these drugs is giving me a breakdown!

One year I was on Prozac and Xanax.. Just the other night I was remembering how I used to have hallucinations upon waking of my ceiling being covered in spiders. No really! Every time I woke up from a nap, the ceiling appeared to be covered with spiders!

I'm content now to just be bitter and misanthropic, without all the spiders and chemically induced monotony...

KlonnieGirls @ 2 mg are essential. I never go anywhere without them. The less you use them, the better they work. Oxycodone 10mg/APAP aka 747s (for long trips to far away places) are lovely to have on hand for special occasions. They're wonderful mood elevators. Like Judy, I've got emergency supplies of both of these stashed all over.

Heather says:

My favorite is definitely:

Paxil - When I feel like a little bit of Diabetes. Hey, everyone gets a craving every now and then, eh?
Prozac - If I don't feel suicidal enough. That usually helps.
Wellbutrin - For when I need to lose the weight gained from Paxil, of course!
Lexapro - Nothing like a good drug that has previously been the subject of a lawsuit.
Xanax - For when I need to kill someone.
Valium - To relax at night. I usually ignore the fact that I feel like a zombie shortly afterwards.

This blog, or forum or whatever, seriously couldn't be more welcoming to drug addicts, or people who simply do not understand the job of RESEARCHING the drugs they take. You really should, people. It could save your life.

As a pain specialist I see the whole range of human psychopathology come through my doors daily. It never ceases to amaze me how many people roaming around out there can't cope without chemicals. It's sad really. Unfortunately life is too complicated for many people to navigate without developing severe, chronic problems. The way our society is currently structured, it's never going to get better either. I'm glad I get by with daily exercise and a happy marriage. I wish more people could have the same luck as me.

This is a generic for Minipress (an antihypertensive that's also prescribed for PTSD, but is seems to work quite well for garden variety anxiety & depression) AND for Flomax (for prostate hypertrophy). I never was hypertensive, but this generic provided by the mail order pharmacy covers several bases very well.

just started taking Trazodone. They gave in to me after i came out of the psychiatric ward. I have a lot of trouble sleeping and can easily stay up for a full day and still be full of energy. I am bi polar. Over the years I have taken several antidepressants at least 5. At first Tazodone worked like a charm and I was able to sleep for a full night and not wake up. I think now it is starting to wear off and maybe my psychiatrist will up the dose from the 50 mg i am taking now. Been having a really hard time.

Wow, I am just amazed at how much of a judgmental prick you come off as. Paxil is no better than heroin? Is every mind altering substance equivalent to the most dangerous street drug there is? Compare the effects of Paxil to heroin, and you'll realize just how stupid you sound.

Just because psychotropic drugs are abused by some doesnt discount the thousands of studies that show that they can help those with chemical imbalances. Is it that you don't believe that things like Schizophrenia and Bipolar disorder exist, or would you would rather just have those people running around unmedicated.

I don't know what kind of warped view you have on these people, but most live normal innocent lives if they get help. The dangerous ones are often those that do not seek help. Really, it's kind of funny that the real fucking coward is the one bashing people with serious problems over the internet.

PS: I am not on any of these meds but they have helped cure my sister, and ignorant assholes like you just piss me off.
