YouTube Spreads Eugene's Message From the Future

Posted by Eugene Mirman at 1:50 PM, May 26, 2006

Here is an advertisement I made for my new CD/DVD, "En Garde, Society!". Sub Pop Records (who released the album) did a promotion with YouTube, who featured one of my videos on their site. YouTube decided to feature one of the weirder videos from my DVD (a video I sent myself from the future), and the response was almost overwhelmingly negative. Here is the video they featured, and the ad I made as a result.

Your video sucked, no wonder the reviews were negative

I love you Eugene!

The one I don't get is *gay*. What's *gay* about this video? Boring, gross, banal, deja vu, simplistic, not funny, dumb... (not that I subscribe any of the foregoing) maybe, but, *gay*?

I guess this just goes to disprove the old scientific theorem that tin-foil is a good camouflage for homosexuality.

Wow. I'd say those comments were kind. I don't know how drunk you got the people at Sub Pop to put out your cd, but there's got to be a serious booze shortage in Seattle right now.

I am a lame, gay, shithead.

Well, people may not like the video all that much but if this new CD is anywhere near as funny as the last one then i'm buying it (or downloading it and copying it to CD but either way I think I am showing my support, no?

You people wouldn't know good comedy if it walked up and told you a joke. Go back to rubbing yourselves in Steven Seagal massage oils while listening to your Jeff Foxworthy CD's.

Jim... when you say you people are you talking about people that like Eugene Mirman or don't like Eugene Mirman? Because I was confused.

Jessica, I think it pretty obvious that 'you people' was reference to the fags.
