This week, Sietsema goes to Central Asia—well, maybe just Rego Park—to check out the city's second Uyghur restaurant, Arzu.
We hear about lamb rib kebabs, manti, sweetbreads, samsas (relative of the samosa), and homemade noodles. And along the way we are educated about the region and its many "stans":
"We're still waiting for the city's first Kazakhstani restaurant. Apparently, Borat was right about one thing: The nomadic Kazakhs are inordinately fond of horsemeat, just like the French. I can't wait."
