Introducing La Nueva Conquista

Last week, one of our favorite Dominican lunch counters, La Conquista Restaurant, got a spiffy new awning and was reborn "La Nueva Conquista". We've long lived with the fear that this place, like so many similar gems, could slip away any minute. After all, Lafayette has become quite the shopping strip. But we're taking the awning, and the owner's young nephew joining the kitchen team, as signs that the best beef stew in New York will be around for a bit.
