It's a Good One: Holy Tamale

Categories: Good One

I have to admit, I'm no tamale expert. In fact, until last night, I'm not sure I have ever had a really good one. I've had decent ones, and enjoyed them, but in Woodside last night, perched against a building with the tamale in my lap, I wished you were all there so you could taste it too. The masa was so soft, not gummy and dense, it reminded me of my mom's soft polenta. The chicken was tender, and the jalapenos and hot sauce were quite hot against that pillowy backdrop.

In short, get on the 7 train, get off t 61st Street, and head for the cart right under the LIRR tracks. $1.50.
