Top Chef Now has its Own Holiday

To celebrate two coinciding culinary events, restaurant week and the beginning of Top Chef Season 3, Bravo is hosting a cook-off of sorts in Union Square on Tuesday. Padma, Tom, Ilan, and Hot Diabetic Sam will be there, plus David Burke, Floyd Cardoz, Stephen Lewandowski, and Tracy Nieporent. It should be total mayhem. The event is open to the public and there are gift certificates to be won.
But the really bizarre part is this: A yet-to-be-named city official will declare that June 13th, (when Season 3 debuts) shall henceforth be known as NYC Restaurant Week: A Taste of Top Chef Day. No, really.
