Manhattan's Best Iced Coffee

Posted by Nina Lalli at 12:10 PM, July 16, 2007

At this very moment, EfV is sipping on an extremely watery iced coffee -- an all-too-common consequence of giving a new place a try. We're not going to name names, as we're feeling nice today, but if you're looking for some good iced coffee, Chowhound has a thread going. The funny part is that the hounds keep going back to Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts, much to the dismay of the original poster.

Some of the (non-chain) winners are:

The Grey Dog, Cafe Grumpy, Amy's Bread, Think Coffee, Joe's.

Some of the 'hounds find Mud Coffee to be bitter, but we're a fan of their espresso over ice. Who's your favorite?

I moved away over a year ago, and I still really miss the Mud Truck's iced Red Eye.

EfV is in charge of my iced coffee choices, just as it is in charge of my stomach.

La Esquina in SoHo has absolutely perfect iced coffee. Not the iced café con leche--just the regular $2 iced coffee. It's fresh and strong.

In Park Slope, the regular iced coffee at Cafe Regular. I think it's La Colombe coffee from Philly. The guy who owns the cafe doesn't use that syrup drek, but dissolves the sugar in a little hot coffee before tossing in the cold coffee, ice, and milk. Stud.
