Perhaps we can thank Global Warming for this one? Jon Vandegrift, the Shake Shack's General Manager, has confirmed, in writing, the rumors that the Shack is working on a year-round plan. Let's just go straight to the email, shall we?
There is truth to the rumor. We will be staying open throughout the winter, but we'll be closing around the holidays and through the New Year this year. We'll re-open shortly after that.
The heat lamps are being sorted out, so while it looks extremely likely, it's not 100% certain yet. Our PR Department is planning a release soon to give some details about what we're doing. I'd prefer to wait until we release that to give any other specific details.
Wow, nice scoop! What good news. Now I know not to rush there today.

I don't live in New York and I've never been to the Shake Shack, but I think this is kind of sad. There's something fun about the idea of anticipating the re-opening of a seasonal joint every year. If they become just another hamburger place, I bet their buzz goes fast.

Went today (Nov 2)and the Shack burger was magnifique! Staff confirmed that they will be closed for 3 weeks during the holidays.

If you go when the line is long, you will not get a good burger. The line simply overwhelms the staff. If you go early though or this time of year you will get a great burger. This is very good news indeed -- and yes they taste even better when it's cold out. Yum!
