Memorial Day Special: Lazy Picnic Eats

Categories: Eating

It's Memorial Day weekend, prime time for park picnicking and general lolling around in the sun. The new branch of DUB Pies, which is a block away from Prospect Park, turns out buttery-crusted, savory New Zealand-style pies. They are completely perfect picnic food—hand-held and sufficient unto themselves. The curry vegetable (above) contains a sort of pleasantly mushy pub-style curry, and the shepard’s pie holds tender chunks of beef inside and is topped with a crisped layer of mashed potatoes.

If you're lying around in Central Park, you can now order in. Nanoosh Hummus Bar will send a delivery person to hand-carry hummus to your lazy self. Okay, you do have to get yourself to the West 75th or West 65th entrance, but still. As a special, Nanoosh is offering a dip picnic tray for four, with hummus, tahini, lebane, carrots, celery, broccoli, and pita for $23.95.
