BLT Market's Wild Blossom Cocktail Wins Drink Mix-Off
The Department of Consumer Affairs says that (legal) sidewalk cafés are at an all-time high—there are about 1,000 of them in the city.
Eating at sidewalk cafés often requires a nice stiff drink to distract yourself from the fact that you're sitting right next to a dumpster or an idling car, so it's only appropriate that yesterday the DCA held their 3rd annual Sidewalk Café Drink Mix-Off. The judging panel included Arthur Schwartz, and in the end, BLT Market's Wild Blossom was victorious.
Make it at home, and get in the spirit by sipping it on your stoop. It tastes better than a forty.
Wild Blossom
Yield: 1 cocktail
Adapted from mixologist James Scarito
2 ounces Plymouth Gin
3/4 ounce St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
3/4 ounce grapefruit juice
1 ounce cranberry juice
grapefruit twist or wedge, to garnish, optional
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine all ingredients. Shake well, and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with a grapefruit twist or wedge, if desired.
