Women in the Kitchen

Categories: Edible News

Our Man Sietsema was nice enough to call my attention to a very interesting article up right now on Gourmet's website. In it, Laura Shapiro wonders why so few women chefs make it to the tippity top of the restaurant world in New York. And it's true that while you can think of several women chefs—Anito Lo, Gabrielle Hamilton—they haven't broken into that sphere with, say, Eric Ripert and Mario Batali. It's worth a read, certainly. It's a good reminder that despite Stephanie's Top Chef win last night, womens' place in the kitchen is far from secure.
