Calories! Just in Time for the Weekend

As of midnight tonight, all New York City chains have to post calorie listings, or face stiff fines from the DOH. Up until now, the law has been on the honor system—chains were supposed to have the listings posted, but couldn't be fined if they weren't complying. Only about one fourth of the restaurants posted the calories voluntarily, so tomorrow is the day of reckoning, when you'll see calorie counts everywhere from McDonald's to the movie theater concessions to Le Pain Quotidien.
Luckily, the Red Hook ballfields won't be posting calories and that's where you'll find me, stuffing my face with pupusas and elotes, and back here to talk about it Sunday night or Monday morning.
