Fork in the Road at Txikito

This week, I'm at Txikito, Alexandra Raij's new Basque tapas spot. The restaurant has got a good thing going on: the service is casual but on point, the room is simple and cozy, and the food is tasty and fun to share. A soft poached quail egg on a sofrito capape might not change your life, but it's awfully nice as part of your dinner--as are blistered Basque peppers and salt cod with nuggets of fried headcheese. The specials tend to be overpriced, and it's often a pain to get a seat, but still, this is a reastaurant that's easy to like.
