Market Watch -- Newfangled Matzohs

DSC01744v.jpg

What looks like a craggy rock found in the desert is the new matzoh offered at Blue Ribbon Bakery Market ($1.25). It's not kosher for passover, that's for sure, but it sure is good, dusted with herbs and way salty, so salty you wouldn't want to eat it with cheese. Nevertheless, it makes a fine snack, and looks a lot more like the matzohs produced according to Jewish law by the Satmar bakeries under the J tracks on Brooklyn's Broadway than those bland square crackers produced by Streit's. Of course, those go much better with cheese or peanut butter...14 Bedford Street, 212-647-0408
