What to Drink on a Cold Night
![]() |
Happy Friday--time for a drink. Usually, I hate flavored vodka with a passion. But this Honey Pepper vodka from the Ukraine is actually delicious, and very warming. I first had it at Smolen Bar and Grill (708 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn), a fantastically old-school Polish bar.
You can serve this room temperature, rather than chilled. It tastes mildly of honey, but isn't too sweet, and finishes off with a pretty serious chile burn--there are three dried red chiles floating in the bottom of the bottle. It'll warm you up, and might even cure a cold. It would also be a good punch mixer.
Nemiroff Honey Pepper Vodka is available at Astor Wines for $16.99.
