Yelping the Buttermilk Channel
Carroll Gardens' Buttermilk Channel (524 Court Street, Brooklyn) has been open about two months, and it's drawing raves from both Yelpers and professional critics. Chef Ryan Angulo (Stanton Social) and his comfort food earned five stars out of six from Time Out this week, and Yelpers have been equally enthusiastic, giving it an average of four stars our five. A roundup of the Yelp reviews is after the jump.
"The food was uniformly excellent. We got some of the homemade pickles, the croquettes, and the bacon-wrapped almonds for starters -- all were excellent...The service was great and the staff all seemed very friendly and welcoming. I really liked the decor as well -- it's a very warm and comforting atmosphere."
"My dining companion had the Kale salad. A MUST!!!! Then, Fried Chicken. A revelation: THIS IS FUCKING DELICIOUS, OH MY FUCKING GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE BOTH HOW GOOD THIS IS AND HOW COMPLETELY AND YET TEMPORARILY HAPPY I AM AT THIS EXACT MOMENT IN MY LIFE."
"They start the meal with popovers, which probably gave them an unfair advantage--I love popovers."
"When I walked in I was greeted by Buttermilk Channel's owner, Jerry Seinfeld. Sorry, a look alike. He had the teeth, the hair, and the sweater, but since I adore Seinfeld all of this was vrey endearing."
"With the seating. I am normally not a fan of communal seating. It is not that I am anti-social. But let's face it. Communal seating generally means cramped seating, bumping elbows with the person next to you, and listening to conversations you could care less about - and having the schlub next to you overhearing your conversation. It is just a bad idea."
"i thought the fried chicken was okkkk... though considering everyone talked it up so much, it didn't blow me away."
