A totally non-Valentine themed event, and a totally affordable one, is to be had tomorrow night at the New School. As part of their "Culinary Luminaries" series, the school's Food Studies program considers the life and work of James Beard, aka the "dean of American cookery" per the New York Times.

Speakers include Mitchell Davis, vice president of the James Beard Foundation; writers Betty Fussell, Barbara Kafka, and Judith Jones; and Dana Polan, professor of Cinema Studies at New York University.

All the details are after the jump.
