More Wining

• I've been eating a lot of the Ralphs Grade AA Large Eggs and a couple days before I heard about the recall I started getting stomach pains. They have gotten a LOT worse, I already went to the ER once, and if they could actually do anything for me I would go in again. This is literally the worst pain I have ever been in. I'll know by tomorrow if its salmonella or not, the doctors have no idea as of now.

• How did Martineau get her job? The poor journalism around this country is shocking. The bill in Kentucky is dead and for Tennessee it is on life support. Here is excerpt from USA Today: "In Kentucky, Democratic state Rep. Larry Clark, who offered a bill for the past two years to allow supermarkets to carry wine, said he became so frustrated with the process he did not try again this year. Republican Tennessee state Sen. Bill Ketron, who introduced a bill last year to allow grocery sales of wines, said the Legislature's fiscal review indicated the move could generate $17 million in tax revenue a year. Ketron said he has received positive feedback on the proposal, but he acknowledged that doesn't mean it will have a better fate than his last attempt, which stalled in committee during the 2008 legislative session." If Martineau had an ounce of intelligence, perhaps should could have done a little research into why no state has changed a law in the last 23 years. She could have also found out then after implementing in Washington State in 1970, alcohol abuse rose preciptiously. My seven year old could have put together a better story. With so many reporters at the unemployment office, it would be wise for Martineau to work a little harder next time

• You need to get your facts straight. Tennessee is about to defeat this bill (again) this week. The other states that allow such sales either did so since Prohibition was repealed or were state owned operations. This is a unique situation that must be handled differently than in other states. Liquor stores have been forced to remain small, single unit operations because it suited NY. Now the state wants to change the rules and these same stores must be able to compete with global public companies. It's not about convenience either, as there is a liquor store next to almost every grocery store in New York. The Governor needs to follow our President's message of supporting small business, as this measure will certainly lead to business closings and unemployment. And do we really want wine in a gas station? Let's get real and look at the social cost of increasing the wine outlets by eight fold. There certainly will be more access to alcohol and it will almost certainly end up in the wrong hands. Understand the facts and the collateral damage before commenting and so you have to walk an extra 20 yards to get that bottle of wine, will it kill you? If it is a hardship, almost every store offers free delivery.
