Black Horse Coming May 30--Classic British Pub Food, Plus Soccer

IMG_0736.jpg

This ramshackle spot on Fifth Avenue in South Slope, Brooklyn, used to house a convenience shop. Now it's being gutted and totally re-done as a restaurant--a pretty wood bar and exposed brick walls are in evidence. A blackboard on the scene reads that the place will be called Black Horse Pub, and will open on May 30th.

The website promises
"British, Irish, and American dishes served up by our renowned Lancashire chef Mick Baldwin." On the drinks front: "We will be serving all your favorite liquid refreshments." Other details: Full English breakfast will be served during soccer matches, and there will also be Sunday roasts, with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings.
