Food Network Announces New Shows; Restaurant Girl Hires Legal Muscle

Food Network has announced eight new shows, all "inspired" (read: ripped off) from other networks. Extreme Cuisine With Jeff Corwin has Corwin eating strange and exotic foods a la Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern; and What Would Brian Boitano Make? is taken directly from South Park.

French-Canadian chefs have started experimenting with seal, which for centuries has been hunted by the Inuit and eaten raw. Seal has no fat yet is rich in iron and Omega 3s, and boasts a taste something between duck and veal.

A woman in Northern Ireland who Tweets her recipes has developed a following. The Tweecipes are surprisingly detailed, complete with measurements and precise instructions compressed into 140 characters.

In other Twitter news, Danyelle Freeman, aka Restaurant Girl, has hired lawyers to send a cease-and-desist to her Tweeting impostor, Adam Robb Rucinsky, who pokes fun at the food critic by Tweeting silly fake news and reviews filled with spelling mistakes.

Kellogg Co. has settled charges that it falsely advertised the benefits of eating Frosted Mini-Wheats. Apparently, the attention spans of only 11 percent of children studied "improved by 20 percent," a result the ad suggests all children studied experienced.
