The Brooklyn Flea Market has moved back to its original home at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School at the corner of Vanderbilt and Lafayette avenues in Ft. Greene. More art fair than flea market, the gathering in a parochial high school play yard added a few food vendors from the Red Hook ballfield vending scene last summer.

This year, the food vendor presence is expanded, and there are now a dozen tents hawking all manner of delicious snacks and meals. In fact, the food vendors are creating the most excitement at the Flea, and it may be that the food vending eventually eats the entire market.

Consider-Bardwell Farms teamed up with Saxelby Cheesemongers to produce a toasted cheese, featuring Pawlet cheese with spicy dill pickle on a Black Cat ciabatta. This is pedigreed food par excellence!

Artisanal Soups cooked up some designer potages with rather alarming names: black bean with smoked Spanish paprika and chipotle oil, and sweet corn chowder with black volcanic sea salt

As usual, the pupusa ladies were stars of the show
