Drink This--Polish Cherry Syrup

IMG_0907.jpg
I found this bottle of Polish-made cherry syrup in a small Polish shop in Brooklyn; many Eastern European markets carry it. A little research yielded the information that cherry (and sour cherry) syrup is much loved in Poland and Russia, and is often poured into cold vodka, beer (I'm not a fan of this), or soda. In a ratio of nine parts soda to one part syrup, the drink is light, effervescent and refreshing, with light sweet-sour cherry flavor.

If you want a buzz with your syrup, gin would go well with the syrup and soda, or you can apparently substitute cherry syrup mixed with white amaretto in place of maraschino liquor in any cocktail recipe.
