Open & Closed--Say Hello To Marea & Aldea; Goodbye to QDT, Uncle Marky's Organics

The long-awaited opening of Marea has finally arrived. Michael White of Convivio and Alto fame is bringing handmade pasta to the table, as well as small plates like lardo on sea urchin crostini.

Another long-time-coming newcomer is Aldea, masterminded by David Bouley and Tocqueville alum George Mendes. Expect a Portuguese-inspired menu featuring a lot of seafood, as well as pork shoulder, crisped pig ears, and duck cracklins.

Studio, a new biergarten opening in Queens not too far from the "other biergarten," will feature a 900-capacity outdoor patio, and about 20 German and local brews on tap served in 1/2-liter and liter steins and $18 pitchers.

Tribeca's QDT (Quality Drinking Time) has shuttered leaving locals bereft of a favorite happy hour spot. The owner left a goodbye note on the door saying he "had a good time."

Midtown vegan-organic go-to, Uncle Marky's Organics, closed this week. The sad-yet-sweet note on this place's door promises a new location: "I'm sorry and I've very much enjoyed serving all of you for the past nine years, and I look forward to continuing that in the near future. I love you all and we will see you soon."
