This shank's for you--Iraq! (Squint and it looks like a sleeping poodle.)

A popular favorite in Iraq, quzi is a boiled baby lamb shank stuffed with rice, vermicelli, almonds, raisins, fresh peas, and other vegetables. You can get a bang-up version at La Kabbr, the city's only Iraqi cafe, where exploding car bombs will be far from your thoughts. Quzi comes with a bowl of spicy tomato soup to use as a dipping and pouring sauce, and you won't be able to finish the entire entree, which comes with a choice of soup or salad (pick the wonderfully yellow lentil soup). 683 Ninth Avenue, 212-586-0015
