Open--Say Hello to Pho 32, Super Hot Dog & Green Canteen

Sean MacPhearson and Eric Goode, of the Bowery and Maritime Hotels, have opened Jane Hotel and Ballroom, a "faux-dilapidated, two-story ballroom [with] a low-ceilinged, English-style pub up front for all-hours drinking, plus an upstairs parlor and veranda (open in the evenings) populated with plush antique sofas."

Pho 32's fifth location has opened on St. Marks' Place, where it will serve soup 24 hours a day. For now, it's BYOB, although they are gunning for a liquor license. In addition to Vietnamese and Japanese soups, it features built-in stoves for shabu-shabu.

Danny Omari's Super Hot Dog has opened next door to his wrap shop, Rino Ceronte, which opened last week. The menu includes such creations (atrocities?) as a fresh fruit hot dog with blueberry jam on whole wheat bun, among other healthy toppings and "epicure-style" sauces, and will soon feature homemade buns.

The city's first LEED Silver Certified restaurant can be found in Williamsburg. Green Canteen seems to have just about everything--ever invented--on the menu, including antipasti, homemade flatbreads, salads with grilled meats, "distinctive" hummus bowls, "handcrafted" mini burgers, soups and chilis, plus homemade sodas, shakes and desserts. A smorgasbord of wholesome-sounding food philosophies is also available, such as healthy, local, hormone-free, sustainable, and free-range.

Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss, partners in Marquee, have opened Avenue in the space once occupied by Earth. The multistory lounge features a late-night menu of finger food like lobster rolls, spring rolls, Kobe sliders and waffle fries.
