Alfama, the Portuguese restaurant on Hudson Street, will serve its last customers today. Miguel Jeronimo, one of the restaurant's owners, says they're closing up shop over the weekend. Though he declined to give reasons for the closure, he did say that "our intention is to open a traditional Portuguese bakery; we'd like to do a cafe-bakery-restaurant." He hasn't found a location yet, but hopes it will open sometime during the fall. He adds that the restaurant's phone number will stay the same, so Portuguese baked goods aficionados won't have to search far and wide to get their pasteis de nata fix.
