New Yorkers Emerge From Recession Foxholes, Return to Restaurants

An article in Crain's New York reports that despite ongoing economic woes, many restaurants throughout the city are reporting a growth in business. Though summer traditionally means slower sales, June and July have brought signs of economic recovery as restaurants have reported an increase in customers from the same period last year. Rainy weather throughout June, greater confidence in job security, an unwillingness to be further deprived of table service, and a bottomless appetite for new and ambitious restaurants were all cited as reasons for the upswing.
