Elettaria to Close?

Eater brings news that Elettaria, Akhtar Nawab and Noel Cruz's one-and-a-half-year-old restaurant on West 8th Street, may be closing tonight. According to an e-mail sent yesterday by a bartender at the restaurant, "Our last service will be tomorrow night, Thursday the 27th." Though the restaurant has been bedeviled by an odd location and mixed reviews -- Frank Bruni gave it one star, noting, "Elettaria is lovely but awkward, and its awkwardness undercuts Mr. Nawab's impressively creative cooking" -- Nawab has had his share of faithful followers. Messages seeking comment have been left at both the restaurant and its publicity office. Stay tuned...
