Ninth Precint Hears Out Residents Regarding Rowdy Cooper Square Hotel

We've all heard tales told (and seen evidence) of the horrors associated with living next to the Cooper Square Hotel. EVGrieve reports that Deputy Inspector Dennis Dequatro, commanding officer of the Ninth Precinct, met with residents from the neighborhood last night to hear their quality-of-life grievances about living near the hotel. Cooper Square has called for its own meeting with the precinct following visits from the NYPD, State Liquor Authority, Health Department, and other agencies on July 2 that resulted in several citations.

Residents last night said their repeated complaints to the hotel have so far been ignored. Dequatro was sympathetic about the noise issues surrounding the rooftop lounge, but said there wasn't much that could be done about it. In response to complaints about rowdy penthouse parties, however, he claimed he "wasn't aware this space existed until 10 minutes ago." If it can be shown that the space is being used inappropriately, the party may just be over on the 21st floor.
