Arthur Avenue Walks
Arthur Avenue
August 7, 10 a.m.

They call it New York's "real" Little Italy: Arthur Avenue in the Bronx is home to bakeries, fish markets, vegetable markets, cheese makers, and pasta makers, some of whom have been in the neighborhood for generations. Take a walk along the avenue with Renee Restivo, a cooking instructor who will teach you how to food shop like a real Italian.

American Whisky & American Farmstead Cheese
Astor Center
August 7, 6:30 p.m.

Forget wine and cheese. What fromage really wants is something a little stiffer. Join Brandy Library's spirits sommelier Ethan Kelley as he teaches how to pair American whiskey with local farmstead cheeses. From subtle, soft cheeses to pungent washed rinds, and from barley to rye to homegrown corn, learn how much brown liquor loves cheese.

The 5-Boro Pizza Tour: The Brooklyn Leg
Various locations
August 9

Seems like every food critic in the city is talking pizza these days. Crown your own favorite pies on the 5-Boro Pizza Tour with blogger Jeffrey "Tastes" Orlick. This Sunday is the Brooklyn leg of the tour, which Jeffrey warns is "an ambitious tour, one not for the general public." Staten Island, the Bronx, and Manhattan legs to come.
