EV Grieve brings word that the former Mondo Kim's space on St. Marks will soon be home to not only a(nother) karaoke lounge, but also a possible "gourmet deli." Plans attached to the storefront's doorway show sleek white tables and shelves filled with undoubtedly "gourmet" food. While it's puzzling that, as EVG points out, this deli is opening across the street from another so-called gourmet deli, what's even more of a head-scratcher is why every other deli opening these days calls itself "gourmet." Is it shameless false advertising, or have we simply failed to recognize the culinary superiority of Clif bars and Poland Spring flavored sparkling water?
