. Sean Meenan, the owner of the original Noho and Fort Greene restaurants, is collaborating with Richard Ampudia, a consultant for La Esquina. The new restaurants' chef, Rene Ortiz, is also from La Esquina, and is planning a menu that will use as much local California produce as possible. Meenan certainly isn't the first New York restaurateur to take advantage of the Southern Californian proclivity towards health-conscious and eco-friendly consumption: In July, City Bakery's Maury Rubin signed a lease for an L.A. branch of Birdbath

is in the process of opening a space in West Hollywood to sell its vegan, gluten-free cupcakes.
