Fork in the Road has been eagerly awaiting the return of the New Amsterdam Market, Robert LaValva's labor of locavore love. The market, which comes to the South Street Seaport this Sunday, will run once a month through December, and feature some 80 regional artisanal vendors selling everything from garlic and cheese to pickles and chocolate (a full list can be found here). The Atlantic Food Channel has an article today about the market, comparing it to London's legendary Borough Market and asking if New York's future can be glimpsed in the market revitalization London experienced in the 1990s.  While it's too soon to tell, the prospect of a future of fresh bread and raw-milk cheeses is certainly a delectable one.
