One of the great things about food-based fundraisers is that they provide valuable opportunities to indulge in base gluttony in service of a noble cause. And September happens to be full of such opportunities.

Tonight, Let Us Eat Local, a fundraiser for Just Food, will feature plates from Blue Hill, Gramercy Tavern, Jean Georges, Marlow & Sons, Telepan, Gilt, Cookshop, and dell'anima, to name but a few. The folks from the Tipsy Parson will also be on hand to offer a preview of their Southern-inflected menu. While that event is, sadly, sold-out, philanthropically-minded fressers can still get tickets to this Sunday's Taste of the West Village, a benefit for local public schools that will showcase the food of Village stalwarts like the Little Owl, August, Market Table, and, again, dell'anima. Tickets can be found at the event's website.

And then, of course, there's the following weekend's Le Fooding d'Amour, the two-night gastronomic orgy held in support of Action Against Hunger. Along with visiting French chefs like Inaki Aizpitarte and Stephane Jego, David Chang, Wylie Dufresne, Julie Farias, Sean Rembold, Nicholas Morgenstern, and the Minetta Tavern gang will ply paying supplicants with food decadent enough to make the Texas State Fair look like a meeting of the Caloric Restriction Society. One can think of other ways to raise money for a worthy cause, but as these savvy event organizers already know, the fastest way to a wallet is through the stomach.
