One If By Land Takes Over Elettaria Slot at 'Eat Your Heart Out'
The closing of Elettaria last month did, apparently, come as a surprise to owners Akhtar Nawab and Noel Cruz, who had already signed up their one-and-a-half-year-old restaurant to participate in Eat Your Heart Out, the seventh annual West Village tasting event taking place in Washington Square Park tonight. The fated restaurant is still on the flyer for the event, although taking its place on the bill is the storied One If By Land, Two If By Sea, which garnered attention when Chef Craig Hopson, formerly of Picholine, took over the kitchen, breathing new life into the historic restaurant two years ago. Hopson has since left One If By Land to helm Le Cirque, but his protege, Sam Freund, is holding down the fort on Barrow Street, and will be serving up Duck Torchon on Brioche with Homemade Mustard and Red Onion Jam this evening in the park.
