Cupcake Stop to Become Cupcake Shop in the East Village

An article about start-up bakeries in Crain's yesterday contained an interesting tidbit for anyone who follows the goings-on of Twitter-savvy food trucks: The Cupcake Stop, Lev Ekster's nearly five-month-old mobile bakery, will soon have a brick-and-mortar incarnation in the East Village:

"Although the truck is here to stay--after all, it doubles as a mobile advertisement--Mr. Ekster is preparing to go brick-and-mortar. He's currently negotiating a lease for a Cupcake Stop store in the East Village, where he'll pay more than five times what he does to rent a commercial kitchen.

"It's a trade-off," he says. "But I see this as a long-term business."'
