From the SLA: Le Souk Is Le Screwed

On Monday night, Community Board 3 voted to deny a liquor license renewal to Le Souk, and today, the SLA offered unequivocal support of that decision: According to a statement released by the agency, the New York Court of Appeals has ruled to uphold the SLA's decision to revoke the Avenue B restaurant-club's license for good. Le Souk, which had a long history of bad relations with many of its neighbors thanks to noise and traffic congestion, had won an appeal in March to have its license reinstated after the SLA canceled it due to overcrowding in March 2008. But this court decision would seem to spell doom for Le Souk's owners -- who have a second location on Bleecker Street -- and victory for their neighbors.
