Panya Opens, With No-Name Tapas Place in Tow

IMG_4715.jpg

The East Village has been eagerly awaiting the re-opening of Panya, the Japanese bakery on Stuyvesant Street that was closed for renovations back in January. The wait is now over: The plywood's off, the sign's up, and the vastly expanded interior is customer-ready. But what of the former Around the Clock space next door that Panya's owner is busily revamping? According to a worker, it's going to be a tapas restaurant, and will open in about a month's time. And it won't have a name: The same worker, who was busy mixing some sort of clear viscous substance with a paint brush, said the owner doesn't want one.
