'Top Chef' Judge Unimpressed by the Actual Food

A friend who has been a judge on Top Chef reports that the food the judges were asked to critique wasn't all that good. I can't disclose the name of the judge or the season he/she appeared, due to the contracts the producers make every judge sign. But here is the quote I got: "First of all, the food arrived cold, because it took so long to do all the fussy shooting. I was disappointed it wasn't warm. It was competently prepared, but there were ingredients that didn't work [in the dishes]."

Could it be that, when Padma smacks here lips and purrs, she's only acting? And that Tom's seeming lack of enthusiasm for most of the food is genuine?

Once again, due to the punitive nature of the contract every judge must sign, my friend couldn't tell me more.
