Why Won't Taco Bell Cop to Cupcakes?

According to Nation's Restaurant News, Taco Bell officials are denying last week's report that the chain is testing such sweet and market-saturating treats as Red Velvet cupcakes and smoothies in at least one location in Southern California. Could they be embarrassed about hopping on the cupcake bandwagon so late in the game? Not likely, considering they've done it before with another food trend.
