Certified Open: Bar Henry in the West Village

henry.jpeg
Bar Henry (90 West Houston Street), the purported "American sister" of the West Village's Cafe Henri, opened last night. This wine-centric American bistro, housed in the space formerly occupied by Zinc Bar, is serving up Pat LaFrieda and Niman Ranch-sourced meats prepared by chefs Christian Ortiz and Cosme Aguilar, as well as several signature cocktails, including the Tom Morgan, named for a New York music patron and celebrated wine collector (Beefeater Gin, tonic water, and lime juice); Tiger Tail (Bourbon, Grand Marnier, soda, bitters, and orange peel); and Henry Dog, named for the bar's main investor (vodka, one drop of dry vermouth, and a brandy-marinated cherry garnish). Because, in this era of mustachioed mixologists, even wine bars must have cocktail lists.
