In response to Bruce Buschel's list of 100 Things Restaurant Staffers Should Never Do, Server Not Servant posts its own list of 64 Suggestions for Restaurant Customers. Some of these seem like no-brainers, but anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant knows that some customers certainly could use a primer on dining etiquette. For example:

Never blurt your name, the number in your party, and the time of your reservation in response to a warm welcome. Acknowledge the existence of a fellow human being (no.3); Don't make a reservation for six and show up with a total of four and say, We just wanted lots of room (no. 9); and Don't get angry at a barback, busser, or food runner who can't fulfill your request. There are often limitations on what they are authorized to do (no. 41). And, may we add, should you see another diner exhibiting any of these behaviors, feel free to shoot him or her a dirty look, as though he or she were littering or doing something equally uncivilized.
