Earlier today, EV Grieve noticed that the long-empty storefront at 122 First Avenue (between 7th and 8th Streets) was being renovated by the folks behind P.J. Hanley's, the iconic Carroll Gardens pub that started producing pizzas under the South Brooklyn Pizza name in 2006.

According to Hanley's managing partner Ruben Alban, South Brooklyn Pizza is headed for 122 First Avenue. "We'll probably open in a couple of months," Alban says. As for the decision to keep the Brooklyn name intact in Manhattan, it was simple: "It's kind of a trademark we had, and we want to keep it. We're going over the bridge and will see what we can do with it."
