Atlantic Avenue Gets a Boutique Wine Shop

Get your bubbly in Brooklyn this New Year's Eve.
What was once a bullet-proof-glass-type liquor store on Atlantic Avenue is now a proper wine shop. Atlantic Cellars opened this month at the corner of Grand Avenue on the Clinton Hill/Prospect Heights border. It stocks a selection of wines from around the world, with a particular focus on small producers and indigenous varietals. Some 80-90 percent of the wines are in the $10-$25 range.

The owners, Karin Holm and Daniel Combs, say they've been welcomed warmly to the neighborhood and have already seen repeat clientele.

"I love sharing and educating about wine," says Combs, a former sommelier at Il Buco. The shop will host wine tastings every Wednesday and Saturday throughout January, and is currently featuring 11 sparkling wines for New Year's Eve, including Cava, Prosecco, Lambrusco, and Champagne.
