Finally! Cupcakes for Dudes: Butch Bakery Debuts, Injects Testosterone into Cupcake Craze
Ever wonder what's been missing from cupcakemania? As it turns out, it's cupcakes for men. Since the very beginning of the trend, sparked by the gals from Sex and the City, bakeries like Magnolia, BabyCakes, and Baked by Melissa have predominantly aimed their pastel-frosted treats at the ladies. Butch Bakery hopes to change all that with its masculine approach to the baked goodies. The cupcakes are available for delivery in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, and the company has plans to open storefront bakeries throughout the city and beyond.
Cupcakes for dudes: where butch meets butter cream.
Each Butch cupcake is topped with a chocolate disk in one of six designs: Woodland Camo, Wood Grain, Houndstooth, Plaid, Checkerboard, or Marble. They come in such macho flavors as rum-soaked Madagascar vanilla cake with cola Bavarian cream (The Rum & Coke!) and maple cake with milk chocolate ganache and bacon bits. Natch.
Founder David Arrick is a former securities attorney who left Wall Street during the economic meltdown. Taking note of all the girly cupcakes out there, he decided to launch Butch Bakery, where, he says, "butch meets butter cream."
